tively forbid the imagination to dwell upon it. Learn to forget by forgetting, for forgetting is an art.—Chapman. 21. The Healthy Christian “Thè wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning” (Prov. 16:21). . If you want to keep the health of Christ, keep from all spiritual sores, from all heart wounds and irritations. One hour of fretting will wear out more vitality than a week of work; and one minute of malignity or rank ling jealousy or envy will hurt more than'a drink of poison. Sweetness of spirit and joyousness of heart are es sential to full health. Beloved, if you would keep God’s life and strength, keep out the things that kill it; keep it for Him, and for His work, and you wili find enough and to spare.—A. B. Simpson. 22. Ours by Faith “According to your faith be it unto you” (Matt. 9:29). Tirhorous souls find much difficulty in laying Hold upon the promises of God as being made to themselves: they fear that it would be presump tion to grasp things so good arid precious. There can never be pre sumption in humbly believing God. We are not likely to err in trusting the promise too far. Our failure lies in want of faith, not in excess of it. It would be hard to believe God too much: it is dreadfully common to be lieve Him, too little. “If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.”—Charles H. Spurgeon. 23. The Message of the Redeemed “Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonder ful works'to the children of men!” (Psa. 107:8). The miracle of deliverance must be followed by the psalm of praise. Many a blessing becomes stale because it is not renewed by thanksgiving. Graces that are received ungratefully droop like flowers deprived of rain. Therefore "in everything give thanks.” But emancipated lives are not only to praise God, tlf^y must exercise in confession before men. “Let the re deemed of the Lord say so!” Tell the story of thy deliverance to the en slaved one that he, too, may see the iron gate of Satan’s prison swing open, and thereby he may gain his freedom of salvation in Christ Jesus. —J. H. Jowett. 24. The Divine Tenant "I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another comforter, that he may abide with' you forever” (John 14:16). It is useless to pray that the wind

is a far greater sweetness in that which- remains. Do you not think that the owner of the donkey, on which Christ rode into Jerusalem would be proud all his days of the use to which his animal had been put, and would count it as a treasure for the rest of his life? All that which we have rendered to Him gains fragrance from His toUch, and comes back to us tenfold more precious because He has been pleased to use it.—Alexander Maclaren.. 19. Our Lord Has the Answer “Ah Lord God! . . . there is nothing too hard for thee” (Jer. 32:17). We say that we believe the prom ises
