HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE Level 3 Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma Venue: South Downs Campus Duration: 2 years

Year 2 – Personalisation and a Person-Centred Approach to Care (Examined) – Infection Control – Promoting Positive Behaviour – The Impact of Long-Term Physiological Conditions – Promoting Health and Wellbeing – Supporting People with Dementia – Supporting People with Mental Health Conditions – Research Methods in Health, Social Care and Childcare (Examined) Assessment progression to Higher Education and further training for employment, in a health science profession, education or social care. Our previous students have gone onto a variety of careers including nursing, midwifery, social work, health studies, teaching, youth and community studies. Entry Requirements Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language and Mathematics (a Science is recommended). Level 2 in Health and Social Care with preferably a Distinction (may accept Merit with a good reference). You will be assessed by a mixture of coursework portfolio and external examinations. Overview This Health & Social Care course has been developed to meet the changing needs of the sector and prepare you for the challenges you’ll face in Higher Education or employment. Designed in collaboration with experts spanning the breadth of the sector, this course focuses on the skills, knowledge and understanding that today’s universities and employers demand. You will develop professional and personal skills through interaction with people who either work in the sector or require care or support, as well as theoretical knowledge and understanding to underpin your skills. This will allow you to offer specific, person-centred care and support and build positive relationships with the people you are working with, so that their needs and requirements are met whilst you maintain control of your own care and support. You will get the chance to do placements in both years to give you the practical experience you need to go to university.
