Teaching & learning This full time course is taught in our Gaming & Creative Digital classroom. We provide the specialist knowledge and skills to prepare you for the fast-growing Esports industry. This is a career-focused qualification with industry endorsement that enables you to learn underpinning knowledge, develop technical and transferable skills and gain experience in a variety of different sections of the Esports industry. Assessment All units are internally assessed units and subject to external standards verification. You will be given opportunities to: – present findings of your own research – use case studies to explore complex or unfamiliar situations – carry out projects for which you have choice over the direction and outcomes – demonstrate practical and technical skills using appropriate processes Your course culminates in a synoptic assessment that enables you to demonstrate you can identify and use effectively, in an integrated way, an appropriate selection of skills, techniques, concepts, theories and knowledge in realistic contexts, scenarios and activities. Progression Studying this course could lead you into employment across a range of roles within Esports either individually or in teams. Alternatively, you could progress onto a relevant degree such as the Esports Degree offered by our partners at the University of Chichester. Entry Requirements You will need five GCSEs at grade 4 or above.
Overview This course will give you the skills you need for success in the fast-growing Esports industry. Esports offers a unique opportunity to study a sector that crosses over multiple subject areas such as sport, marketing, enterprise, IT and the creatives. It provides an opportunity for alignment of social, physical, mental and financial skills into one qualification to deepen and expand learning; these are skills that are highly valued in the changing and fluid workplace. You must apply strategy, skill and teamwork to be successful. You will also have the opportunity to compete in the British Esports Association colleges competitions. The HSDC Storm team will compete in Rocket League, Overwatch, League of Legends and Valorant against other colleges. The matches run from October to May.
