You will also cover: – Key principles, tools and methodologies in engineering and manufacturing design practice and processes – Essential maths and science for engineering and manufacturing – Materials and their properties – Mechanical, electrical and electronic principles – Mechatronics In Year 2 you will move on to study the occupational specialism and this will be specialist units to develop specific knowledge and skills in manufacturing technologies. This specialism allows students to engage with the technical expertise, technology, systems, methods, and skills involved in developing and making products at various scales, using specialist tools, equipment and machinery. Students will examine a range of industrial processes, computer-aided manufacture, machining, manual techniques, research and planning required to develop raw materials and components into high-quality products, systems, and facilities, and to understand how these complex processes, practices and outcomes are evaluated and optimised. Teaching & learning You will be taught on campus three days a week with a full time programme of lessons in our engineering workshops. We provide the specialist knowledge and industry expertise to prepare you for employment with some of the best engineering companies and employers. Each week you will also work with one of our partner employers, each one leaders in their field, who will help you apply the theory and skills learnt in college to real industry applications. Assessment You will be assessed through an exam, industrial placement, work-based project and synoptic assessment.
Overview Are you interested in working in the process manufacturing industry? Do you want to learn about continuous production and designing processing control systems and machinery? Are you interested in combining disciplines such as control engineering and chemical engineering? Then this is the course for you! You will spend time in both the classroom, learning basic principles and theory, and in the engineering workshop, where you will learn a range of practical engineering processes and skills. You will also spend a minimum of 45 days on an industrial placement where you will work closely with a leading employer either every week or on a block placement to help you develop the right knowledge, technical skills and behaviours for working in this exciting sector. This course ensures you can rival all students with a unique blend of both academic and industry experience with a work placement giving you the real-world skills you require for future employment. Structure This Engineering & Manufacturing T Level includes the following core content: – Key principles and practices that apply in manufacturing, processing and control – Key manufacturing, processing and control tools, equipment, infrastructure, systems and operations – The relationship between manufacturing, processing and control, and engineering design, and engineering maintenance, servicing, installation and repair
