UNIFORMED SERVICES - PREPARATION FOR ENTRY NCFE Level 3 Diploma

Venue: South Downs Campus Duration: 1 year

Assessment All work will be continuously assessed using video and photographic evidence to support effective feedback. Google Classroom provides easy access to resources and relevant course or tutor related information. Practical and peer observations in conjunction with mock professional and peer interviews allow your progress to be monitored throughout the whole year. A portfolio is produced to achieve a final grade. Progression Upon successful completion of this course students are able to progress to the Uniformed Services Officer Academy Extended Diploma. This course will teach individuals additional responsibilities, and provide both UCAS points and the experience to enhance progression into possible application as an officer. You may wish to apply for entry to the armed forces or public services. You may also want an alternative career or Apprenticeship in another field, which can be supported by the HSDC Careers & Employability Team. Entry Requirements Three GCSEs including English Language or Mathematics at grade 4 or above or successful completion of a Level 2 Diploma course with Functional Skills. Those with GCSE grade 3 profile are recommended to pursue the Level 2 Diploma in Uniformed Services course or an alternative Level 2 course.

Overview Just like the Level 1 and Level 2 course, this course focuses on commitment, determination and respect. However the Level 3 will develop your skills as a leader and troop commander. You will take part in regular fitness testing, including a military swim test, to assess your progress and set new goals. There will be opportunities to work with local schools, organising mini Olympics and military-style fitness fun days, providing you with valuable leadership and teamwork experience. You will learn about service routine and perform drill for Remembrance Day and at your end of year Pass-Off Parade. There will also be map and navigation days and an adventurous activities residential to Tile Barn. We have a strong bond with the Armed Forces Careers Office (AFCO), offering employer engagement, through regular guest speakers and look at life experiences for a variety of the armed forces career paths. We have our own Combined Cadet Force (CCF), which students are encouraged to join unless already involved in a cadet programme, that can enhance a Uniformed Services experience.
