SKILLS FOR INDEPENDENCE - ENTRY 1 RARPA Learning Programme
Venue: South Downs Campus Duration: 1 year
Teaching & learning You will be taught by experienced SEN teachers with support from learning support assistants. Tasks will be broken down into simple steps with the aim of you being able to move from being supported to complete tasks, to doing them yourself after a period of time using the RARPA principles. Personalised support can be provided if needed, including 1:1 support in and out of class, group academic support, personal care, and social communication (speech and language) groups. Assessment You will be assessed through set tasks, set for you by each teacher including observations by them. Your written work and photographic evidence will be collated in a portfolio for assessment. Progression You may wish to progress onto the Entry Level 2 course. Entry Requirements There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
Overview This course is for young people who have attended SEN schools and have a current Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). It is designed to help improve independence skills and give you the opportunity to learn at your own pace. This course will have slightly smaller class/ group sizes than the other Entry courses and will also include learning support in classes and support at break and lunchtimes. Structure This course will give you the opportunity to study art, sport, community projects, as well as core subjects in English, maths and ICT. You will also be able to take part in work related activates.
