to see everyone who was in attendance. Even though we had a smaller than normal crowd, it was still a great day of learning and catching up with friends old and new. We had an exciting group of speakers, with topics ranging from Unclaimed Property, Federal Units and Horizontal Development, Dissecting Abstracts and Title Opinions, Indian Title Issues, and Elements of Deeds and Conveyances. The Board is also thankful to Devon Energy Corporation for their generous donation to CAPDOA. We are excited to meet again in October and December to finish out the year strong. In October, we are hosting Matt Schlensker who will be speaking on Gas Flaring and then December will feature Estate planning with The Title Law Group of Oklahoma City. We hope that our members will be able to come and support CAPDOA, as they are what keeps this organization going. We are truly thankful for each and every one of them. We would also like to congratulate our local member, Valerie Wible, on being elected as the 2022 NADOA Treasurer. We couldn’t be more excited for her and this accomplishment. Last but not least, our CAPDOA Board Elections for 2022 will be opening 10/1/2021 and closing 10/15/21. There are Officer and Director positions available. If anyone is interested and would like more details regarding any particular position, please reach out to capdoa@capdoa.org For more information regarding CAPDOA, please visit our website at www.capdoa.org. ………………………………… DALWORTH ASSOCIATION OF DIVISION ORDER ANALYSTS (DALWORTH) Association serving the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX Area

DADOA is pleased to have been able to award a scholarship to the 2021 NADOA Institute to member Cori Peth, who would not have been able to attend otherwise. After the institute, we asked Cori about her experience, and here is what she shared with us: “This was a smaller conference, so the pace felt a little more relaxed. There was more time to connect with the other attendees…and of course, I’d be lying if I didn’t say everyone’s favorite was the location. Fort Lauderdale is beautiful and the resort they chose was wonderful. My goal with attending classes was to seek out new material, but also to look at topics from a teaching perspective. As I’ll have opportunities to mentor others, I tried to think back and ask myself, “What do I wish I had been taught earlier in my career?” As a result, I took away many helpful pieces of information that I plan to share with my team. Alice Hoge had a wonderful class regarding the anatomy of a lease and important provisions. There was another class that walked us through the life cycle of title. I truly wish I’d heard that presentation when I started my career. It took nothing for granted and explained the how’s and why’s - from finding potential leasing opportunities to the final Division Order Title Opinion.
The NADOA Institute Committee did a great job and I am grateful for the chance to attend!”
In other news, DADOA partnered with the Denver Association of Petroleum Landmen (DAPL) on their September 15 Luncheon on Royalty Deductions. As stated by one of our members,“I am really glad I went, it was good to be at a ‘live’ luncheon again!” We are grateful to DAPL for asking us to partner with them on the luncheon and hope to host our own luncheon in November to celebrate DADOA’s 40th Anniversary. As we are working on future luncheons, do you have a topic idea for a future luncheon? Are you interested in being a presenter at a future luncheon? If so, please get in touch with us via the “Contact Us” link on our website.
