April 2022 Anchorlines

Ship’s Store Greetings from the Ship’s Store staff of Deb deVries, Ellie Everitt, Michele Niblack, Kerri Pakalnis, Joanne Chute, and Cloe Gerri. I can’t believe it’s April! We are thinking about the last year and deciding what to do for the rest of this year and beyond. Here are some key learnings: • We wanted to have the most merchandise when the most people were here -- this was challenging as I wasn’t really sure how much merchandise to order in the first place! While we tried to focus on vendors where we could get additional items easily, not all vendors worked that way. • Different than last year, we want merchandise and the store open all year. • As the season winds down we will continue to keep “staples” in the store: caps, polo shirts, towels. • Honor System is the only way we are able to stay open when the club is open. • Women have better handwriting than men -- or all of the men who are members are doctors or a doctor taught them how to write. Women will write out the SKU perfectly and the men will not. What can we do to make that better? Would taking a picture of the tag and sending it to the Ship’s Store email be easier? • Men shop in the store-who knew? • We are excited to have our new Dock Master Missy on board. We are going to have Jeff build some shelves in her office and display a selection of Riverside Marina logoed items as we think boaters will buy items when they come to dock and need to see her. • We are doing a fair amount of “special order” items -- usually items in a size we are out of or sometimes a different color. We can’t guarantee that we can get you the item you want but we will certainly try. We are looking into easier ways to let us know what you want like sending to a Ship’s Store email. Thanks for your support and patience this year! Deb deVries
