They planned to do away with it. They picked out 60 of the strongest and bravest warriors who stationed themselves along either side of the track. Stretching a rope across the pathway of the oncom ing engine, they were going to do all in their power to stop it. When it hit the rope those braves were scattered every which way. This reminds me of those who try to destroy the truth of the Bible. Their remains are strewn all over the pages of history and still the Church marches on. The first step in being joyful is according to Cod's conditions of accepting His Son as our personal Saviour. A man once remarked to a minister at the close of a service, "I don't like your preaching. You talk too much about the cross. I like to think of Jesus Christ as the great teacher and example." The man of God asked, "And would you be willing to follow Him if I preached Christ as an Example?" "Of course," was the rather care less reply. "Very well, then, here is the first step," the pastor urged. "He was tempted in all points like as we are, yet without sin. Can you take that step with Jesus Christ?" The young man saw the point. His first need was not Christ as an Example but of Christ as the Sav iour from sin. The same is true with every one of us. After becoming a Christian, the next step is surrender.
