Pink Ladies Donation

A special thank you to the wonderful work the Pink Ladies do for Ryde Hos- pital all year round. In particular, this month the Ryde Hospital Pink Ladies kind donation of a new electric patient transport chair. The electric patient transport chair will be used by wardspersons to transport patients within the hospital, for example from wards to imaging. The chairs will benefit both patients and staff by improving the patients experience in hospital, and reduce manual han- dling risks for staff. The new patient transport chair was gratefully re- ceived by Rado Nikic, and the wardspersons team on behalf of Ryde

National Carers Week

This month Ryde celebrated National Carers Week. It was an opportunity to raise awareness, recognise and acknowledge the 2.65 million Aus- tralians who provide care and support to a family member or friend. There are over 130,000 carers across our district alone. The majority are working carers, balancing care to someone alongside employment and other commitments. I would also like to remind staff members who are carers themselves that additional support is available to them including special leave provi- sions as well as flexible work ar- rangements. As always, the Employee Assistance Program is available to support both staff members and their families. To celebrate the Carer Support Ser- vice had a display in the hospital foy- ers engaging with carers and staff.
