Produced in July 1958, this, the third example of the so-called LWB model, is particularly keenly sought-after owing to its covered headlights. There are only 23 similar cars in existence, and this particular example estimated at between 7.5 and 8.5 million dollars was acquired from Ferrari’s official representative in Hollywood, John von Neumann. This birth of Gooding Christie’s coincides with Rétromobile’s fiftieth anniversary, and the latter’s desire to establish itself in the United States. Although Gooding’s reputation is no secret for specialists, the company’s alliance with Christie’s shall nonetheless significantly increase their visibility. And for the latter, Gooding Christie’s is an ideal way to attract a wealthy predominantly male clientele passionate about vintage cars as well as, more often than not, fine wines and expensive watches.
