The watercolour, of which a preparatory version survives in his archive and is pictured opposite, illustrates the fairy poem ‘A Mother’s Rapture’ 18. Original Preparatory Watercolour 1920. Original preparatory watercolour on card. 38cm x 27cm. Signed and dated by Knowles to the lower right hand corner. Knowles’s pencilled in- structions to the printers in the margins. Additionally Knowles’s name and address pencilled in to the lower margin. Title of the piece in ink by Know- les. [32953]
