ARTHRITIS AND PHYSICAL THERAPY

Regardless of the cause of arthritis, physical therapy serves a purpose. At Austin PT we will work to correct bad habits and postural patterns that contribute to excessive wear and tear on one side or both sides of the body. The combination of physical therapy, modalities, and medication for inflammation as needed can help restore your pain-free movement and functional ability. During Physical Therapy you can expect to undergo exercises specified to your needs to restore your strength, mobility, symmetry, and gait. In the cases of post-operative rehab following arthroscopic cleanups you will be shown how to restore your mobility and strength to normal. It will be important that you consider making exercise part of your daily life as well as healthy eating habits to maximize the benefits of PT. If you or a loved one suffers from arthritic pains, you have options. As one of the few Aquatic Therapy centers in North Alabama, using warm water allows your loved one to function at levels that are not possible outside of water. Contact Austin PT to learn more about your options!
