APRIL HIGH FIVES!

asset to all of us. I can’t count the number of times I — and my team — have been in contact with Seth since the start of the year, and he is always eager to make himself available. While we love working with Seth, we hope to learn enough from him that we’re equipped with the tools to handle future situations that arise! We’d be worse off without you, Seth. Thanks for all you do!”

Easy From: John Moore–Jaguar To: Mitch Montgomery–Twin Falls

“ We had a couple of inches of snow last night and had 10-degree temperatures this morning, and Mitch shoveled the customer and employee parking before everyone arrived.”

Wow From: Christopher Frageorgia–Boise To: Ritchie Rodriguez–Boise

Strive From: Dale Hansen–Boise To: Eric Grant–Boise

“ I wanted to acknowledge Ritchie Rodriguez in the Boise Cabinet shop. He has always been a vital part of the process and management of the shop. Even in a time with a lot of change and implementation of new machinery along with the day-to-day running of the cabinet shop and adjusting to how things are done, he is still on top of questions and comments put on Trello. Whether tagged in the note or not, he has some of the highest diligence I’ve seen in a coworker. He remains very responsive, coordinating who needs to respond or finding the answer himself. I believe he is a crucial part of the process and the shop. He is a prime example of an owner who cares about his work, employees, and Franklin. We all have one common goal each day, and he makes it easier to reach the goal. I appreciate Ritchie’s determination and the attitude he carries every day. High Five!”

“ I wanted to give Eric Grant a high five. As we have transitioned to Treasure Valley Install, Eric has taken the initiative on the product control side of Cabinets. He has made implementations to streamline processes and monitoring within systems that we were already using. The capability to fully utilize what is at our fingertips has improved tracking and will substantially impact the quality of the shop. Eric strives to be better in his position and has positive effects on every person he works with.”

Safe From: Brian Tucker–Boise To: Steven Prophet–Boise

“ I would like to High Five Steven Prophet for inspecting and finding a defective trailer hitch before transferring a cabinet trailer from one location to another. Several recent incidents have involved trailer hitches that have broken in the hitch assembly, not allowing it to latch onto the hitch ball. Steven recognized that the hitch had a broken pin, and by identifying this problem, Steven saved the company from a potentially dangerous situation that could have caused severe injuries.”

Guide From: Jordan Paeth–Boise To: Seth Higginson–Jaguar

“ I want to shout out Seth Higginson for consistently and patiently guiding his internal customers (all employees) through challenging scenarios and situations. Seth always makes time for the employee- owners of FBS, and his HR experience is undoubtedly a valuable

ACHIEVING THE GOLD STANDARD Holding Each Other Accountable

The introduction of LEAN/Continuous Improvement concepts in the Caldwell Yard has proven invaluable. Implementing these concepts has been sustained through multiple yard managers, and the employees have recognized that “fixing what bugs you” is not just a slogan. When put into practice, it can improve the work environment, increase productivity without increasing effort, and make the workplace safer and more enjoyable. These LEAN principles have

from yard managers and front-line employees, and because of their efforts, it has become a habit for most employees in the yard. Yard employees at all levels hold one another accountable when the high standards for organization and cleanliness are not maintained. There is a degree of self-policing in place that I believe is unique. Yard employees are encouraged to actively participate in improving processes and procedures, and most of the best ideas for improvements come from the bottom up, not top down. We are all aware that we are still in the infant stage of this never-ending journey, but when I take a walk through “their yard,” I could not be prouder of my Caldwell yard team for the pride they take in their work environment and constantly putting forth the effort to improve and fix what bugs them.

empowered our yard team to think and act like employee-owners. This has been achieved not just through training, but it has manifested with the buy-in from our yard employees. Having a LEAN culture
