Trillium subdivision project A developer’s proposal for a new residential subdivision in Rockland is getting some nods of approval around the Clarence-Rockland council table. Spacebuilders Ottawa Ltd. presented its application for approval of a draft plan for the Trillium subdivision, a 55.7-hectare, 94-lot development, which includes creation of five new streets. The subdivision site is located south of Clark Road and the Outaouais Golf Club and west of Landry Street. During the March 20 committee of the whole session, council members reviewed an infrastructure and planning department report on the proposed project. Overall reaction was favourable though there was a request for city staff to talk to the developer about making changes to the stormwater drainage management system before the draft plan application comes back for approval at a later council session. – Gregg Chamberlain

Le conseil municipal a apporté son soutien unanime à une recommandation de l’administration pour la nomination de M. Huppé. – Gregg Chamberlain Mayor meets with Chamber Mayor Guy Desjardins was the special guest speaker for the April 11 Clarence-Rockland Chamber of Com- merce business breakfast session. Mayor Desjardins summarized the past success of the annual Ottawa River Festival in helping boost Clarence-Rockland’s tourism profile, and expressed the same hope for the newWestern Jamboree which will debut in Clar- ence Creek this summer. The mayor also reviewed and answered questions regarding the status of efforts to get the Highway 174/County Road 17 link between Rockland and Orléans upgraded to four-lane status, and also noted recent successes for several local entrepreneurs in getting business deals as a result of the city hosting a local showcase session with officials from the Korean Embassy. – Gregg Chamberlain
