As we approach the holiday season and the fast approaching winter break, I extend warm wishes to each of you. This year has been filled with achievements and memorable moments, showcasing the strength of our close-knit community. As students head home for the break, it's a time for rejuvenation, reconnecting with loved ones, and well-deserved rest. The holiday season offers a chance to reflect on accomplishments and return in the new year with fresh perspectives. Surveying campus, I've witnessed your resilience and dedication, and I'm confident the new year will bring even more successes. Whether you're exploring new places or enjoying quiet moments, I hope you find joy and relaxation. Wishing you a joyful holiday season and a happy, healthy new year.

As Mariah Carey says, it’s time! Time for the holidays, time for finals, and time for a well- deserved break! I like listening to Christmas music in preparation for final exams. Key word here for final exams in December. Christmas music starts way too early, and I know my opinion is probably wrong as I’m sure my friends would point out, but let's not start the Christmas tunes until Thanksgiving is over. Regardless, I’m excited for a break. After finals, I’ll jam to all the Christmas music, watch Christmas movies and eat all the Christmas cookies. We’ve all worked hard this semester so let’s all kick back and relax for a few weeks while we have the chance! Read on!

In the month of November, students competed against each other for a great cause: donating snacks! The annual food drive for Wabash Valley College’s FRESH (Food Resources Eliminate Student Hunger) took place. The donations are to help eliminate student hunger and available to use for all students, no matter if they need a quick snack before class or a few things to make a meal. FRESH also carries personal hygiene products. FRESH is located in the Student Lounge and the open hours are posted in the lounge. They have a wide variety of food from chips to Pop-Tarts to everyone’s favorite Little Debbie Treats! All the numerous clubs around campus competed to try to win a pizza party sponsored by Student Senate by donating individually wrapped snack items. If you want to make a donation to FRESH, contact Jill Winter at winterj@iecc.edu. FOOD DRIVE BY RYLAN ROBB

Q&A Q: What is your favorite thing to do besides baseball? A: “I like being outside. I like fishing, I like bowhunting.” Q: What is your favorite food? A: “Probably a nice medium-rare steak.”

Jared Proctor is the pitching coach for the Wabash Valley Baseball team. He is originally from Bardstown, Kentucky. Coach

Proctor is a WVC alumni, graduating in 2017 as he played one year as a left-handed pitcher for the team. That team made it to the world series and finished in third place. His favorite experience was his teammates and the camaraderie it brought with it. While he was at WVC, he got a general degree and then majored in communications. “This is a place that doesn’t have a lot of distractions where you can really come and focus on your academics or your sport. It can really put you in a good position to be able to do that and be able to thrive and grow as a person.”

STUDENT LIFE ON CAMPUS

WVC Student Life recently hosted events filled with holiday cheer and community spirit:

On Thursday, November 16th, in the Spencer Sports Center there was the screening of the beloved classic, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. To enhance the cinematic experience, a generous community member lent a large inflatable screen, turning the gym into a festive movie night venue. After the basketball action on November 30th (a Warrior win over Oakland City 99-72), the festivities continued with a crackling bonfire that illuminated the night. The flames provided a warm and inviting atmosphere, creating a perfect setting for students to gather and share the spirit of the season. While it was some students 1st time at a bonfire toasting marshmallows and crafted s'mores, for others, it reminded them of camping in their former years.

Student Life continues to foster a vibrant campus community. Beyond academic pursuits, these events provide students with moments of joy, connection, and the spirit of the season.
