P UB L I C A R T You won’t be limited to only enjoying art in an exhibition space or a museumwhile in OKC. Our city is adorned with public art around nearly every corner. Not only are we talking murals and sculptures, but also digital interactive installations that light up the night sky and temporary ephemeral works shining on walls and in the back alleys of the city. The explosion of street art in OKC over the last several years has drawn local and top international street artists. It is no surprise to those in the Modern Frontier that OKC was ranked #1 in the nation for street art by USA Today . While beautiful street art can be found throughout the districts, the most dynamic grouping of these street masters’ works is located on the nationally acclaimed PlazaWalls . This rotating mural project spanning across 5,160 square feet is longer than a football field, features more than 25 artists and has effectively established the first mural district in the state. The PlazaWalls are nestled behind the businesses on 16th Street in the Plaza District and change each year.
