BUILD TO RENT
Creating affordable housing for all Australians.
Housing Choices and Super Housing Partnerships have been selected as the preferred consortium to purchase the building on completion. Delivered by Development WA, the cross sectoral collaboration is the first build-to-rent model for social, affordable and market housing in WA and will comprise 30% social housing dwellings, with the balance being affordable housing and market rentals (inclusive of specialist disability accommodation). These replicable mixed income models reflect international best practice, adapted to the Australian context to achieve social outcomes for tenants and financial returns for investors.
Housing Choices Australia has partnered with Build to Rent developer, Assemble, to manage community housing across projects Australia-wide. A first of its kind for the emerging asset class, the initial tranche will provide thousands of homes for low to moderate income households. Super Housing Partnerships (SHP) a specialist affordable fund manager is contributing investment towards the project pipeline which includes high density, mixed tenure developments in Melbourne and Perth initially. The Melbourne tranche consists of 3,300 dwellings over multiple sites for low and moderate income households, facilitated by $1.5billion in long term institutional capital investment. In Perth, the Federal Government has provided in principle funding support through Housing Australia for a 219 architect- designed apartment project in Perth’s CBD.
