MARKET EDUCATION AND AWARENESS
Our Clean Candle Commitment campaign is a call to make candles with clean waxes. We encouraged consumers to look for candles made with organic, sustainable and ethical ingredients and highlighted the benefits of using Organic Palm Wax. The campaign ran on Instagram and Facebook.
When it comes to palm oil, consumers are concerned about health risks, environmental impacts, and social inequalities related to its production. The oversimplified messaging around palm oil in the media has led to numerous calls to action to boycott it completely, with ‘no palm’ labeled products finding their way onto the shelves in our grocery stores. To combat this, we raise awareness of the many benefits palm oil has to offer, and show that when done right, palm oil can have a significant positive impact on the world. To create lasting change in a large and commoditized industry, we initiated and launched Palm Done Right – an educational campaign and movement to change the conversation around palm oil. Through Palm Done Right, we have demystified some of the simplified reasoning around the complex topic of palm oil, and continue to prove that there is a better way. Since 2016, Palm Done Right has built brand, retail, and consumer awareness around palm oil’s potential to create positive change. This has resulted in a growing number of brands choosing Palm Done Right as the alternative to conventional palm oil for their products. Over time, more and more retailers have joined our Palm Done Right movement to help educate their shoppers about the benefits of organic and sustainable palm oil.
In September 2018 we launched Palm Done Right Month, highlighting and celebrating all partners that take their palm oil sourcing seriously. During Palm Done Right Month we stand together to educate consumers and advocate change. In 2021, Palm Done Right Month was hosted online. Last year’s focus was on raising awareness of the categories and products that are big users of palm oil. From September 20th to September 30th, we zoomed into different product categories to educate consumers about why palm oil is used. We also highlighted brand partners that consciously source organic, sustainable and ethical palm oil.
In 2022, PDR continued its mission to raise awareness of palm oil use and encourage consumers to choose brands that use sustainable palm oil. We encouraged our #consciousconsumers to raise awareness within their communities using the hashtag #SayItOnTheWrapper.
