later, however, Andy Lightle-Blais scored the Cougars seventh goal of the night. In a final push to keep their season alive, Tyler Proulx and Maxime Patenaude scored two more goals for the Eagles, bringing the goal difference back to one with a little less than two minutes left to play. With just fifteen seconds left on the clock, Zachary Bigras scored an empty net goal for the Cougars, spelling the end of St-Isidore’s season. “We have to be better at keeping our leads” said Cougars general manager Franky Dopelhamer. “But I’m obviously happy with the result in the end.” Dopelhamer added a bit of praise for the

Eagles who never gave up and pushed to the end with their season on the line. The Cougars will be facing the Morris- burg Lions in the next round of the playoffs. Morrisburg finished second in the league this season, just three points above the Cougars. The first game of the series will be played on Saturday, March 2, in Morrisburg at 7:30 p.m. “It’s going to be a tough series,” said Dopelhamer. “We’re going there to win, but it’s not going to be easy.” The Cougars’ first home game of the series will be played the following Sunday, March 3, at 4:30 p.m.

four goals in the first period from Zachary Bigras, Joshua Desjardins and two from Malcolm Séguin, compared to the Eagles one, thanks to Samuel Levesque. Ethan Holterman made the score 4-2 late in the second period, but Maxime Laliberté and Joshua Desjardins added two more goals to the Cougars tally before the end of the period in a game increasingly out of reach for St-Isidore. But with just 16 seconds left to the period, the Eagles’ Justin Duchesne brought the game back to 6-3, giving a glim- mer of hope to the visiting team. Jacob Levac scored the Eagles fourth goal, bringing the score to 6-4 with eight minutes left in the game. Just one minute

Nationals. The following Thursday, February 22, did not prove any better for the Hawks. Heading down to Cornwall, the Hawks opened the scoring thanks to Edward Downey in the sixth minute of the first period, but that was the last time Hawkesbury saw the lamp light up that evening. The Colts went on a tear, scoring an equalizer in the final minutes of the first period, two more in the second, and tacking on three more in the first three minutes of play in the third period. In fact, the first two goals of the period came within 36 and 47 seconds of the puck drop, making the final score 6-1 for the Cornwall Colts. Friday, once again, was not any easier on the Hawks who visited the Smiths Falls Bears on Feb 23. Despite an offense that produced more shots on goal than the Bears (28 compared to 27), the Hawks were unable to sneak one past the goaltender. The Bears, however, found the back of the net four times before the final whistle, twice in the first and

A week of games for the Hawks led to two back-to-back losses with 10 goals against and just one goal for the team struggling to keep form through to the end of February. Despite having won five of six games at the beginning of February, the Hawks have lost their last three games against Rockland, Cornwall and Smith Falls. The unfortunate streak of losses started against the Rockland Nationals on Family Day, Monday, February 19. Two early goals from the Nats set the visiting team ahead in the first and second periods. A goal from Wyatt Schmidek early in the third period put the Hawks within one but the Nats scored again to keep the lead at two. Alexis Minville got goal number 18 of the season in the final two minutes of play, but it wasn’t enough to give the home side a win. The game ended 3-2 for the Rockland
