Editor’s COMMENT CELEBRATING THE PIPELINE OF PLUMBING TALENT Fresh from National Apprenticeship Week, up-and-coming talent is a focus in our February/March edition including NRC plumbing student Blake Hamilton who is one of three finalists for Apprentice of the Year at the NI Apprenticeship Awards 2025. Blake, who works for Newell Contracts, has already bagged a Highly Commended award in the same category at our own NI Plumbing & Heating Awards 2024. Also featured is SWC student David Bateman Smith, an apprentice at Ashley McFarland Plumbing, who shares his path to success including a gold medal win at WorldSkills UK. Training is not exclusive to apprentices of course, and this edition also showcases an industry-wide range of initiatives from cover star Instantor’s new Mobile Training Academy to Pipelife’s Eco Renewable Training Academy offered at its Cork and Dublin bases or in companies’ own workplaces.
