VAUGHAN ENGINEERING SERVICES HAS DELIVERED AN INNOVATIVE DESIGN & BUILD SOLUTION FOR A UNIQUE PROJECT, CO-ORDINATING ALL MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL & RENEWABLE ENERGY SERVICES… PLAYING A PIVOTAL ROLE IN ENHANCING THE SKILLS OF EMERGENCY SERVICES
A comprehensive design-and-build solution was supplied by Vaughan Engineering Services across MEP installations for the new NIFRS Learning & Development College. The Newtownabbey-based engineering contractor designed mechanical solutions spanning plumbing, heating, gas, air conditioning, ventilation and fire protection systems including hydrants and alarms. Renewable energy features encompassed air-source heat pumps and rainwater harvesting, with Vaughan Engineering Services working in partnership with sub-contractors to source and install all MEP services. Its innovative solutions developed for the Training Warehouse and Call- out Village were a particular high point of the project, according to the contractor. Matt Potter, Operations Director, said, “These facilities will play a pivotal role in enhancing the skills and
preparedness of the NIFRS, enabling them to effectively respond to a wide range of emergency situations. “To ensure the longevity and safety of our installations, we carefully selected materials and designs that were specifically tailored to the demanding environments. For instance, we incorporated fireproof luminaires and sophisticated smoke extraction systems to mitigate risks and optimise training conditions. “It was imperative to ensure that all systems, from the intricate plumbing to the extensive cabling, were not only designed to fit seamlessly but also considered the practicalities of installation. “By investing time at the project’s inception to meticulously coordinate these systems, we were able to mitigate potential clashes and optimise the building’s long- term performance. This proactive approach guaranteed that critical
components would remain easily accessible for maintenance and future upgrades, maximising the building’s lifespan and minimising downtime.”
