Welcome to the first edition of New to Cruise

When we started to plan this mailer to share with you everything, we believe, you need to know about a cruise; it took me back to the very first time I took my daughter - then two years old, now aged 22 - on her first cruise.

Why did I choose to cruise? The fact that we’d wake up to a new destination every day and multiple dining options and that we’d be spoiled from the moment we boarded the ship to the minute we disembarked. We could be as busy as we wanted or simply chill out and laze around the pool. After that first adventure; every year we planned our cruise and the anticipation of where we would be visiting, packing our outfits, and then planning our days ashore and on board was simply magical!

CHOOSE A CRUISE?

There are so many cruise lines offering such a variety of experiences at sea that it’s hard to know where to start, especially if you are booking your first cruise. Cruising, long regarded as a refuge for genteel OAPs, is dancing to a hipper tune. Ships have swapped stuffy dress codes and rituals to create a more relaxed and action-packed atmosphere at sea. With a younger clientele lured by the promise of thrilling adventures on land and sea, there’s no end to the fun you can have on a cruise, as there are activities nearly around the clock. Life on board can offer the ultimate chill-out or a continual social whirl. It’s entirely your choice. When it comes to destination, you can sail pretty much anywhere. The biggest choice of ships is in the Mediterranean in summer and the Caribbean in winter, but summer also means the Baltic, Norwegian fjords, or even Alaska. Winter sun is also on offer in the Canary Islands, Far East, Indian Ocean, or South America.

Cruises also offer a great combination of family time to spend with the kids, while parents can spend time apart, everyone has fun. What’s more, you only have to unpack your bags once. Prices of cabins are usually based on deck location; as a rule, lower-deck accommodations are the least expensive, midship ones cost a tad more, while balcony staterooms and suites are the most pricey.

The array of short sailings is undoubtedly a fantastic opportunity for cruise lines to showcase their ships to first- timers reluctant to splash out on a fortnight in the Mediterranean.
