30-year-old Chewie the western lowland gorilla is going to be a mom! One of the most important members of the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s gorilla program, Chewie has had many ups after overcoming a big down. As an infant, she became critically ill and needed human inter- vention for several weeks before being welcomed back into her family. Chewie has gone on to welcome new troop members, support foster efforts, and she showed major interest in newest troop member, Mboka Jo, patiently nurturing him at Gorilla World. Now it is Chewie’s turn to have her own baby to care for! Stay up-to-date with all things Chewie by following the zoo on social media, or head to cincinnatizoo.org.
