The Mad Science franchise has been around for more than 30 years. The company currently has over 160 locations worldwide. The Milwaukee location opened in 2001 with three part-time employees and has grown to a large staff of full- and part- time instructors.
Mad Science is “on a mission to spark the imagination of children everywhere with exciting, interactive programs that instill a clear understanding of science and how it affects the world around us,” said Chief Mad Scientist Kathy “Cosmic Kathy” Johnson. With programs that make science both fun and accessible, Mad Science encourages a love of learning for its “Our STEM programs integrate science, technology, engineering and math concepts … and provide a fun, hands-on way to keep them ahead of the educational curve!” Johnson said. The Milwaukee Mad Science office is located in St. John Properties’ Franklin Business Center in Franklin, Wisconsin, in southern Milwaukee. The space includes a front office, a large lab area for work- shops and parties, and a large back room storage area. “We love our location in Franklin,” Johnson said, “It is close to the freeway and enables us to easily service our customers.” Junior Scientists, with programs designed for children ages 3-12.
Mad Science in Milwaukee provides services for clients ranging from teachers, parents, school administrators, business and government agencies, and more. The staff offers workshops, camps and birthday parties, both in the lab and on location. The programs also travel — presenting exciting after school programs, hands-on work- shops and science shows, as well as shows at the Milwaukee County Zoo, Summerfest and other local festivals
