T H E K I N G ’ S B U S I N E S S three other connections—namely, in the display of God’s power in raising Christ from the dead (Eph. 1:19; Col. 2:12 ); in the operation of the Spirit’s ministry through His servants (Eph. 3:7; 4:16; Col. 1 :29 ); and in relation to the trans forming work of Christ, who will make the body of the believer to be a glori fied one like His own (Phil. 3:21). The actions of the Antichrist will be no idle and ineffectual effort, but will achieve their full end and diabolical purpose. 2. The Man of Sin will be mighty in power.— “ With all power.” Not only “ with power,” but “ with all power.” The word for “ power” is the one that is used of the Pentecostal Gift (Dy- namis), and is rendered “ power” and “ might” (Acts 1:8; Eph. 3:16). 3. The Man of Sin will be supernat ural in act— “ and signs.” The word “ signs” is rendered “ miracles,” and is used of Christ’s miracles. (John 2:11). 4. The Man of Sin will be attractive in manifestation. Not only with “ all power and signs” will he come, but with “ lying wonders.” “Wonders” means a supernatural prodigy, something out of the natural order and hence it excites wonder and surprise. It was what Peter said of the miracles of Christ, which were “ wonders and signs.” (Acts 2:19). 5. The Man of Sin will be deceptive in policy. His wonders are “ lying won ders” to get men to believe “ the lie” that he is the Christ, hence he will practice “ all deceivableness of unright eousness.” 6. The Man of Sin will be wrong in principle.— “ Unrighteousness” is the one plank in his platform policy. The word “ unrighteousness” is translated “ unjust” in speaking of the “ unjust steward” (Luke 16:8), “ iniquity” in describing Simon Magus as being “ in the bond of iniquity” (Acts 8:23), and “ wrong” in 2 Cor. 12:13. Iniquity means to pervert a right thing to a wrong use, and by wringing it out of its right course, making it doubly

MARSH | lllllillllllllllllllllillllllllllH llillllllllllllllllllllllU IlillllllllllU IM In H HE fact that masses of people can. be swayed by one man, such as Gandhi in India, is ominous in its portent. Men who observe the signs of the times have seen the possibility of the rise of a super-man. Some years ago a writer in “ The Times” wrote, “What is it all Europe is looking for? It is the King of men, the great head of the Hellenic race, the man whom a thousand gal leys and a hundred thousand men sub mitted to on a simple recognition of his personal qualities, and obeyed for ten long years. The man who can challenge for his own the shield of Agamemnon, now waiting for the chal lenge, is the true emperor of the East, and the easiest escape from our pres ent difficulties. He must be a scholar, a man of unflinching courage and irre pressible enterprise, full of resources, and ready to look a rival in the face.” Such an one is predicted in the pro phetic word, and he will appear. He is called in the Old Testament “ The King,” who “ shall do according to his will,” and “ exalt himself” (Dan. 11:36); and in the New Testament he is called “ The Man of Sin,” or, as in the margin of the revised version, “ The Man of Lawless ness” (2 Thess. 2 :3). What the “Man of Sin” Will Be and Do The power behind the Man of Sin is Satanic, for we are told, his “ coming is according to the working of Satan, with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceit of un righteousness.” (2 Thess. 2:9, 10). 1. The Man of Sin will be effective in operation. Whose coming is after the working of Satan. The word “ working” is rendered “ effectual work ing” and “ operation,” and is used in
