Sylvia Ratner OF BLESSED MEMORY

Silvia Ratner was born on April 6, 1924 and passed away on January 15, 1999. She was a long time resident of Miami and had a wide network of good friends. She taught accounting for many years at Miami-Dade College and had a deep love for education. She loved the Arts and was a season ticket holder of the Opera, Ballet and Symphony. Sylvia was an extraordinarily independent and outspoken woman who fervently believed in the building of a strong Jewish community. In 1976, Sylvia was a Founding Member of the North Miami Beach Chapter of Brandeis University Women’s Committee. She was also a member of The Foundation of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation’s Heritage Society. Although Sylvia wasn’t a Lion of Judah during her lifetime, a Lion-level gift is made each year in her name through the Sylvia H. Ratner Memorial Fund, in perpetuity.
