"H IS N AM E SHALL BE CALLED " (Continued from Page 11) "The Prince of Peace" W HEN Christ was born in Bethle hem, the angels appeared unto the shepherds as they watched their flocks by night; and this is what they said, Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men in whom he is well pleaded (Luke 2:11, R .V.). It was Christ Himself who said to His own, Peace / leave with you, my peace I give unto you : not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart he troubled, neither let it he afraid (John 11:27). The peace that Christ gives to the redeemed includes “ peace with God,” “ the peace of God,” and “ peace on earth.” Being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 5 :1). Having made peace through the blood of his cross . . . he is our peace (Col. 1:20; Eph. 2:11). The sad truth is, my Christian friend, that many of God’s born-again children do not know what it means to have “ the peace of God” in a restless, troubled world. They are saved by His grace for all eternity, yet they worry and fret and fear what tomorrow may bring. All the while God loves them and longs fo r them to rest in His sure promise of grace sufficient for every trial, for every need. Through the Apostle Paul, He bids us every one who has been redeemed to heed His admonition: Be careful [anxious] for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace o f God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Phil. 1:6, 7). In that coming day, which seems to us to be even at our doors, the Lord Jesus, “ The Prince o f Peace,” will come in glory to establish “ peace on earth” which will be literal, world-wide, and abiding. The day will come when our Lord Jesus Shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghook8: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more (Isaiah 2 :1 ). "There’sGold inThemTharHills!”

’ IRST said o f the romantic West in the "gold rush” days of ’49; but none the less true of many another beautiful valley on America’s "Old Back Road” today. For in such neglected communities with their thousands of poor but warm-hearted families sparkle those priceless gems of youth who, when skillfully polished, may easily become the Torreys, the Sankeys, the Wanamakers, the Finneys and the Moodys of tomorrow! Little effort, apparently, is being directed toward mining these unheeded jewels. For more than 131/2 millions of school children under twelve today are receiving no religious instruc tion whatever — Catholic, Jewish or Protestant. Reaching these neglected youth is our God- appointed task — we have no other. A Superintendent writes of an A.S.S.U. Youth Conference in southern Ohio: "T he Word took effect in the lives of all present, and thirty young people cious .invitation to follow the Lord accepted the gra Jesus Christ: while many more than that number stepped out from the outer circle formed on the clos- n L sL . The A .S.S.U . stands for and emphasizes the foundation truths held in common by .evangelical Christians. These we teach from-the Bible« in which we find the supreme revelation of God’s character and will, of His plan of sal vation, and o f Christian training. This we seek to make plain to all, while especially adapting it to the needs of children and young people. W e aim to present only constructive truth. W e have no place, either for critical attacks or for doubts and uncertainties.
