Meg and

H ot sun. Cool berry-bordered creek. Clusters of butter yel low sunflowers. This was a day in Colorado. It was early in the morning in Spring City. It was going to be a hot Fourth of July this year with the temperature already near 90. There was a stirring in, the Ma guire household; it was Meg and Mike, lively 10-year-old twins. Meg, looking up at the calendar over her desk read JULY 4. “Why this is the day we can have fire crackers and make all kinds of noise and get away with it,” she thought. Then she jumped out of bed and went to wake up Mike. Soon the red-haired duet were shaking their dime bank and counting the cost of firecrackers, flares and noisemak- ers. They planned to spend all their money on the biggest and best things they could get at the store! About an hour later the family was seated at breakfast. Ham and eggs was the menu, because it was a special holiday. Dad didn’t have to go to work at the bank either. The only place open in town was the general store and that only un til noon. “More toast with some of Mom’s blackberry jelly, Meggie?” She nodded her okay and Dad passed the toast her way. “ You two must have big plans for today from all the scooting around I heard upstairs early this morning,” Mom said. “ Oh sure, Mom,” answered Mike in a real businesslike tone. “We are going down to the general store and buy a few noisemakers. We want to get a bang out of life to day.” They finished breakfast down to the last morsel of ham and hurried through the dishes — the family taking part, assembly-line style.

No. 3 of "What I Found at Westmont" Series —

Say: Joe and Doreen McSpadden "These past few years are very emi nent in our lives, not only because the Lord led us to each other, and made it possible to share our college life, but because He has become so real, so living, and so very much a vital part of us. He has worked in many different ways, but one of the foremost was His guiding us to Westmont, where we met, where we married, and where we are now preparing for His service." What more wholesome place could there be as a setting for one of life's most important choices than a Christian campus — and in particular, Westmont, with its "cream" of the nation's youth? Westmont is a recognized liberal arts college of high academic standards. Her grad uates are admitted to the graduate school of the University of California and other leading universities of the world. Investigate today the cultural, schol astic and spiritual advantages of Westmont College.
