LIQUOR AND GAMING Jonathon Root

Cracked, damaged or mouldy seals mean your refrigeration unit uses more power to cool less efficiently and the food doesn’t stay as fresh. That’s a waste of money! Why risk food spoilage, additional wear and tear and non-compliance with Health Department standards while paying for more electricity than you should need? Our Mobile Workshops carry an extensive range of stock on board, which means faster service, so call Seal-a-Fridge on 13 14 79 and start saving money today.

SEAL-A-FRIDGE CAN SAVE YOU MONEY

T he Liquor and Gaming Branch continues to support hospitality businesses during this difficult time. All liquor, gaming and wagering premises are now operating under Stage 3 restrictions and can begin to recover from the significant impact of the virus, while remaining vigilant about density, distancing and hygiene requirements. Other aspects that will contribute to increased patron safety during this time include: • seated table service only (no dancing, pool or darts under Stage 3 restrictions); • ensuring alcohol is promoted, sold and consumed in a way that supports responsible service and consumption principles; and • prioritising duty of care to patrons around alcohol and gambling related harms. For the latest COVID19 licensed venue information, please visit the Liquor and Gaming Branch website treasury.tas.gov.au/liquor-and-gaming No fee increase in 2020-21 As part of the Tasmanian Government’s COVID19 support measures, all fees and charges subject to the Fee Units Act 1997 will remain at the 201920 level. This means that there will be no increase to liquor and gaming fees during the period 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021. Temporary special permits for takeaway liquor Permits granted during the COVID19 closure period to allow for the temporary sale of liquor with a takeaway meal will expire between September and November 2020. If you were granted a temporary special permit, please check the expiry date and ensure you cease takeaway sales when the permit expires. Licence holders to notify regulators of important changes To avoid missing liquor or gaming notifications, licence renewals or invoices, it is important to ensure your contact details are kept up to date. If you hold a current licence

or permit issued under the Liquor Licence Act 1990 or Gaming Control Act 1993, you are required to notify the relevant regulator within 14 days of a number of specified events taking place. For the detailed list of these events, please see the Section 49 Notice (Liquor Licensing) and the Section 161 Notice (Gaming Licensing). If any of the listed events have occurred, please notify the Branch immediately via email to either licensing@treasury.tas.gov.au or gaming@treasury.tas.gov.au. Leeway for RCG accreditation for existing Special Employee’s Licence holders Existing licensed special employees with an expiring Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) accreditation during the period 15 March to 31 July 2020, will have six months longer from their RCG expiry date to comply with the RCG re-accreditation requirement. Affected special employees are strongly encouraged to obtain RCG re- accreditation through an approved Registered Training Organisation (TasTAFE or Express Online Training) as soon as practicable. It is important to note that employers must continue to ensure that at least one individual who has completed the RCG course be on duty at all times, in each area where electronic gaming machines operate (as per the Responsible Gambling Mandatory Code of Practice for Tasmania). Further information and contacting us I encourage you to review the July 2020 Liquor and Gaming Newsletter for more information about the topics outlined in this article.
