Consigned by: Kopriva Gelbvieh TLKG MONKEY was selected to be on the expo sale as an open heifer. After the decision was made to not have the sale in 2025, I was disappointed that I wasn’t going to be able to show her off, but also excited because I had one straw left that I had been waiting to use on the perfect female (more on that in the calf footnotes). Monkey is just a touch above a moderate framed female that is probably the most well-balanced animals from my 2024 calf crop. Maybe just a touch heavy fronted, but DEEP all the way through from front to back. Big hipped and big footed, Monkey has what it takes to be a GOOD cow in anybody’s herd. Broke to lead and HOMO BLACK AND HOMO POLLED.

Consigned by: Kopriva Gelbvieh I was once told by a respected producer that “The older I get, the more I like to use older genetics. If you try to hit a home run all the time, sometimes you will strike out swinging too hard. I just want that base hit every single at bat.” I kept that in mind when breeding Monkey. Crossing her with SAF CONNECTION didn’t just get a base hit, this was more of a double or triple. Just at 30 days old you can already see that wedge shape clean front and square butt that everyone is looking for. This would make for a great project for an older and younger sibling as a cow/calf pair this year, and this heifer would do great rolling right back in the ring as a breeding heifer next year. She will be broke to lead the day of the sale.

Consigned by: Hot Beef Cattle Co. This one is everything I look for in a female and then some. Backed by proven genetics and she walks around on tree trunks for running gear. Cardi is the type of cow you can build a program around. Her mom has put multiple bulls in the Beef Expo for us in years past and I’d look for her to do the same. Bred to Plainsman Humberto 0133H and due around March 22nd. Will be confirmed bred by Iowa State after March 1st. Video available. She has a pedigree for cow-power accompanied by eye appeal. She’s right-sized and correct with plenty of body in a balanced package. Sired by JRI Probity 254D28, the 2017 National Champion Balancer Futurity Bull, Nymeria is mild-tempered and attractive. Her ten-year-old dam (sired by Unanimous) has continued to be a dependable producer. Nymeria is broke to lead and ready for success in the showring or simply the front pasture. The options are yours – keep her as a Fall or wait a bit and make her a Spring. Either way she’ll work and we hope you’ll consider taking her to the 2026 Iowa State Fair. Watch our FB site for pictures as we near sale time – she is a promising young prospect! Go to: www.facebook.com/RussellLivestock and please give us a call if you’d like additional information.
