The half-hour special meeting Dec. 1 fo- cused on the swearing-in of the four coun- cillors and three police board trustees plus a declaration by councillor Jamie Laurin as the acting mayor for the township for December until the mayoral by-election is over later this month and a new mayor sworn in during a follow-up inaugural ses- sion of council. Open house on flood mapping The South Nation Conservation Authority manages #ood control for the South Nation River watershed. The agency hosts an open house Dec. 11 on #ood-map- ping issues for part of the watershed. The focus for the open house is on the John Boyce/Boundary Municipal Drain from Bank Street in the City of Ottawa to the inter- section of the Mitch Owens and Ramsayville Roads in rural Ottawa East and also the Osgoode Garden Cedar Acres municipal drain from Stagecoach to John Quinn Roads in rural Ottawa East. The two drains help manage #ood control for the City of Ottawa’s eastern rural sector and also for neighbouring communities in Russell and Glengarry counties. The #ood-mapping open house is from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Greely Community Centre. Area residents and other interested parties are invited to attend to o$er feedback. All information will help with updating o"cial plans and zoning schedules for future development.
