• OMEGA-7: Pain is One of the Essential Elements in the Conceptual Framework • NUR 112, 113 & 114: Practical Application of Pain Management Interventions Other unique aspects of the curriculum plan include: • One cohort of students is accepted into the program every 10 weeks in this progression program. • The Alternative Therapies course includes health care practices of other cultures; the scientific basis for use of therapies, and information about research and practice guidelines related to complementary therapies. Program Outcomes Upon completion of the practical nursing program, the graduate will be eligible for licensure as a licensed practical nurse and will be able to: • PO1 Create and maintain a safe and healthful environment of care • PO2 Demonstrate clinically competent, safe, and caring interventions for a diverse patient population across the lifespan in a variety of healthcare settings • PO3 Demonstrate professional, legal, and ethical behavior in accordance with the standards and scope of practice of the licensed practical nurse • PO4 Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interprofessional healthcare team • PO5 Utilize technology effectively to facilitate communication, manage information, and document care • PO6 Provide cost-effective and high-quality nursing care • PO7 Integrate concepts, theory, and current research from the physical and social sciences and nursing as a basis for nursing practice • PO8 Participate in the planning and modification of the plan of care based on collected data from nursing assessments to meet health needs and ensure culturally sensitive high-quality patient-centered care • PO9 Provide health teaching and assistance to promote, attain, and maintain patients optimal level of health and comfort
