my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: and ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation” (Ex. 19:5, 6 ). After reading this great cbmmand and the promises which go with it, we can realize why obedience is so very important. The writer of Proverbs tells us, “Righteousness exalteth a na tion: but sin is a reproach to any people” (Prov. 14: 34). Moses was told by the Lord to de liver the message on .obedience to the children of Israef. In Exodus 19:8, we learn their answer, “And all the peo ple answered together and said, All that the Lord hath spoken we will do.” With this in mi n d , let us see whether we can make the “O” tell us of something else. We will turn it over, and again pull on the paper. We now see the word, “OKAY” which is a present-day way of saying what Israel said when they agreed to obey God’s commandments. The blessing of God rests upon those who are willing to obey His command ments. 6:11 And there came an angel of the Lord, and sat under an oak which was In Ophrah, that pertained unto Jo ash. the A biezrite; and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the M idianites. 12 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him , and said unto him , The Lord is w ith thee, thou m ighty man of valor. 13 And Gideon said unto him , O my Lord, If the Lord be w ith us, w hy then Is al| th is befallen us? .and wtyere be all his m iracles which,-our. fathers told us of, sa y ing, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? but now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us Into the hands of the M idianites. 14 And the Lord looked upon him , and said, Go in th is th y m ight, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the M idian ites: have not I sent thee? 15 And he said unto him , O my Lord, wherew ith shall I save Israel? behold,'m y fam ily is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house. 16 And the Lord said unto him . Surely I w ill be w ith thee, and thou shalt sm ite the M idianites as one man. LE S S O N T E X T : Judges 2:6, 7tl 11, 12, 18, 19; 6:11-16. LESSON: The “O” on this roll of paper reminds us of one of the most important words in the Bible; Per haps some have already guessed the word. I will pull on the paper, making it into a telescope, and we shall see the word. . The word “OBEY” appears. We are reminded of God’s words to the chil dren of Israel, “Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep

Judges 2:6 And when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel w ent every man unto his inheritance to possess the land. 7 And the people served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders th at outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the Lord, that he did for Israel. 11 And the children of Israel did evil In the sight of the Lord, and served B aalim ; 12 And they forsook the Lord God of th eir fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round abotit them , and bowed themselves unto them , and provoked the Lord to anger. 18 And when the Lord raised them up judges, then the Lord w as w ith the tiudge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the Lord because o f.th e ir groan- ings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them. 19 And It came to pass, when the Judge w as dead, that they returned, and cor rupted them selves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them , and to bow down unto them ; they ceased not from th eir own doings, nor from th eir stub born w ay.
