will take knowledge of us that we hâve been with Jesus. g —Oswald Chambers. 30. Chosen for Service “A faithful . . . servant, whom his lord hath made gb’ er over his house hold” (Matt. 24,:45). , It is often while folks are faithfully engaged in some ordinary task, that God gives them a greater thing to do. David was tending sheep when called to the thrtrne; Elisha was plowing when called to succeed Elijah. Some of the apostles were making a living by fishing when called to fish for men; Paul was a tentmaker. When God wants a worker, He calls a work er. When He wants some work done, He never goes to an idler. —Cumberland Presbyterian. 31. In That Which Is Least “ If ye ¿hen be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?” (Lk. 12:26).. The years have leveled distinctions. There is no more great or small; It is only faithful service that counts With the precious Lord of all. And I know that tilled with patience, The veriest waste of clod Shall bring forth the perfect harvest, Planned in the heart of God. —Ruby W. Tobias.
rule may help you find safety for your feet along life’s road. —J. Wilbur Chapman. 28. Perfected by Christ “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory” (Jude 24).: The. great ideals of the Christian life are like one starting oh a jour ney ; setting out over the hills, but looking up to the mountains; start ing with victories, but going on to greater victories. Ciod will bring the good work in you to completion, in the day you stand before Him. He will also bring you to completion, and you shall not be ashamed in the presence of His glory. —The Overcomer. 29. Power for the Christian “That ye might be filled with all the fullness of God” (Eph. 3:19). The power which was manifested in Jesus will be manifested in us by the grace of God when once we have made the decision about sin. The weakest saint can experience the power of the Deity of the Son of God if once he is willing to “ let go.” ' We have to keep “letting go,” and slowly and surely the great, full life of God will invade us in every part, and men
all through the day. If we are faith ful in this, we shall think truly, we shall speak truly, and we -shall live truly.—Sunday School Times. 26. Be Glad in the Lord “Rejoice in the Lord always, Re joice” (Phil. 4:4). We are not told to be glad in our circumstances. We are not asked to rejoice in our poverty or pain. We are not urged to be happy in our dis tress or depression. We are to “be glad in the Lord.” You may be in the midst of the storms of life and still sing the songs of the risen Sav iour, because you are in Christ, The soul that trusts the Saviour may lie down in peaceful sleep and rest se curely. May the Lord of glory enable us to be singing saints.—Selected. 27. A Good Criterion “Walk worthy, of the Lord . . . pleasing ”. . . fruitful in every good work” (Col. 1:10). The rule that governs my life is this: Anything that dims my vision of Christ, or takes away my taste for Bible study, or cramps my prayer life, or makes Christian work difficult, is wrong for me, and I must as a Chris tian turn away from it. IF T H I S MOTHER KNOCK ED AT YOUR DOOR Would You Refuse Help To Her and Her Baby?
This pitiful mother, her body wracked with leprosy, would gladly give her life for her baby. 'She trudged many weary miles to come to a Mission Colony and begged to be admitted. Such is the plight of many people with leprosy before Christians come to their rescue, bringing them not only worldly necessities but also salvation through the knowledge of Christ. We Cannot Refuse Them As Long As Our Means Permit “Money to buy food is needed urgently” writes one of the missionaries. * “The land is poor and these poverty-stricken people are undernourished. Rice allowance has already been cut down during these war days and unless we have help we’ll have to reduce on their food. We need your help.” . s ■ .
