Grover Zampa is an Indian winery already acting upon global ambitions. The first vineyards planted in 1992 have now expanded to cover two large operations: one in Nandi Hills, Karnataka and one in Nashik Valley, Maharashtra. Using sustainable practices, selective harvesting and modern viticulture techniques, Grover Wines show a widely appealing yet distinctive style. The ongoing consultancy of Michel Rolland helped found the business that exists today, and Grover is making strides to put Indian wine on the global radar as a whole.

GOLD MEDAL: 93 points

Judges Comments Wonderfully complex, flinty and expressive of genuine Sauvignon Blanc characteristics. The flow of aromas from lemongrass to guava and passion fruit are well expressed through some richness in the palate. Shows good flavour depth and incredible balance. A very classy wine.

Grover La Reserve, 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz

SILVER MEDAL: 92 points

Judges Comments A modern take on a classic dry red with plenty of layers when it comes to flavour. The use of sweet new oak is supported by the ripe black fruits. Medium bodies in style with tannins that are smooth yet still dry. Well made, clean flavours with a nice aromatic lift.
