Bible by Mr. Lange and when Mr, and Mrs. Don Turner went to Trinidad the next month they had the privilege of teaching these babes in Christ the Scripture for a longer time. Broken by God’s love, they were truly saved by His grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. For months they both studied diligently and through every testing time, proved their real change of life and heart. Finally in May. 1925, without any prpmise of support or help, giving up a good position, leaving friends and rela- tives, Mr. and Mrs. Fernandez went to Carupano, to take up more definite study in order to be prepared for real Christian service. They are living in part of the Mission home at Carupano, helping in every way possible in the carrying on of the daily work of the mission, and every day showing and proving to all the fact of their changed hearts and lives. Mr. Fernandez has taken charge of the day school, with 2.2 enrolled, and is making good prog ress with his young pupils, who other wise would have no opportunity for education. We little realize what dangers lurk * on every side, ready to attack this fear less follower of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This man is a challenge to every praying Christian. Prove God's power. We must surround him and his faithful wife with a very wall of prayer that nothing and no one may hinder his public testimony and min istry when the time is ripe fo r him to go forth with the blessed Gospel o f ou r, Lord and Saviour Jesus. Christ, throughout Venezuela, where he once helped to keep the people blinded and ignorant. Mi AN INVARIABLE BAROMETER An artist was once asked to paint a picture of a dying church. Instead of putting on the canvas a small,, feeble, poor congregation, in an old building, he painted a stately, modern edifice,- through the open por tals of which could be seen a richly carved pulpit, a magnificent organ, beautiful stained-glass windows, with frescoings and perfect seating. Just within the entrance, and guarded on either side by a “ Pillar” of the church in spotless apparel, he painted a contribution plate of goodly workmanship for the offerings of fash ionable worshippers. And right above the plate, suspend ed from a nail in the wall, there hung
worldly life. Some months later he was legally married to the sister-in- law of one of the partners of the firm, a well educated woman of much finer type than most Venezuelan women, whose father is an Englishman and mother a Venezuelan, so that Mrs. Fer nandez speaks both languages. The young couple became constant readers of the Bible and soon gave evidence of changed lives. • A New Creature In Christ Jesus

In October, 1924, Rev. Eddings re ceived a letter from Mr. Fernandez, stating that he was more than ever assured of the truth of the Gospel and wanted to return to those whom he once persecuted and reviled and preach the truth to them. When Mr. Lange started to the United States in Janu ary of 1925, he passed through Trin idad and had an opportunity to observe the changed lives of Mr. and Mrs. Fer nandez. Of his own accord the ex priest had given up drinking, smoking, theater-going and spent all his spare time studying the Word o f God.
