D on ’t let Christ w ait alone in the draw ing room o f you r heart but every 'day, find some tim e when, w ith the W o rd o f G od and in prayer y ou m a y fellow sh ip w ith H im . The Holy Spirit's Control Before long, H e asked, “ D o you have a workshop in you r h om e?” D ow n in the basement of the hom e o f m y heart, I had a w orkbench and some equipm ent, bu t I was n ot doing m u ch w ith it. Once in a w h ile I w ou ld go d ow n and fuss around w ith a few little gadgets bu t I wasn’t pro du cing anyth ing substantial or w orthwh ile. I led H im d ow n there. H e looked over the w orkbench and what little talents and skills I had. H e said, “ Th is is quite w e ll fu r nished. W h a t are y ou produ cin g w ith you r life fo r the K ingdom of G od ?” H e looked at one or tw o o f the little toys that I had th rown together on the ben ch and H e h eld one up to me. “ A re these little toys a ll that y ou are produ cin g in you r Christian life ? ” “ W e ll,” I said, “ Lord, that is the best I can do. I know it isn’t m u ch and I rea lly w an t to do m ore but after all, I have n o skill or strength.” “ W o u ld y ou like to do better?” He asked. “ Certainly,” I replied. “ A ll right. L et me have you r hands. N ow relax in M e and let m y Spirit w ork through you. I kn ow y ou are un skilled and clum sy and awkward bu t the Spirit is the M aster W ork er and, if H e controls y ou r hands and you r heart, H e w ill w ork th rough y ou .” A n d so, stepping around beh ind me and pu tting H is great, strong hands under m ine, h old in g the tools in H is skilled fingers H e began to w ork through me. Th ere’s m u ch m ore that I must still le am and I am very far from satisfied w ith the product that is being turned out, bu t I do know that whatever has been produced for G od has been th rough H is strong hand and through the pow er o f His Spirit in me. D o n ot becom e discouraged because y ou cannot do m u ch fo r God. Y ou r ab ility is n ot the fundam ental con dition. It is w h o is con trollin g you r fingers and upon w h om y ou are rely ing.
