OBJECT LESSONS continued Prayer, which Christ gave to His dis ciples. They had said, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” Christ responded by say ing: “After this manner therefore pray ye” (Matt. 6:9). He then gave them what is known as the Lord’s Prayer, to be a model for their prayers. We have not done all that Christ intended, when we merely have re peated from memory the words of the Lord’s Prayer. It is His desire that we model all our prayers after this great pattern. If you were going to build a model

model and having the consciousness that our prayers thus made will meet with His approval. In First Timothy 2:8 we are told, “ I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, with out wrath and doubting.” Aug. 30, 1953 How T im was T aught OBJECT: A piece of paper 8 Vs x 11 inches. (Fold each end to within *4 inch of the middle, leaving a gap of Vs inch. In this space print the word, “TIMOTHY.” Cut a colored picture from a catalogue or magazine, show ing a smiling young man, and paste on the flap to the left of the word, “TIMOTHY.” Unfold the flaps, and using the letters in the word “TIM OTHY,” complete the following words, “ FA ITH , SCRIPTURES, GRANDMOTHER, MOTHER, IN STRUCTED, CHILD and OBEYED.” ) LESSON: This is a happy looking boy, whose picture we see on {his paper. Down the middle of the paper, we read his name, “TIMOTHY.” We have chosen the face of a happy looking boy, because we are sure that Timothy in the Bible was a happy young man. How many of you people would like to be happy? All want to be, I see. There are few people who do not want to be happy, but there are also very few who know how to be happy. We will open this paper and see if Timothy tells us what it took to make him happy. The first word we See is “ FAITH.” We are reminded of Paul’s words to Timothy: “When I call to remem brance the unfeigned faith that is in thee” (2 Tim. 1:5). The boy or girl who has faith in Christ will be happy. The second word is “ SCRIP TURES.” In Second Timothy 3:15, we read, “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salva tion through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” When the Scriptures and sal vation are in a boy’s heart, he is sure to be happy. We next notice the words, “ GRANDMOTHER and MOTHER.” In speaking of Timothy’s faith, Paul said, “Which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also” (2 Tim. 1:5). The boy or girl who has Christian parents is likely to be happy. The last three words are, “ IN STRUCTED CHILD OBEYED.” They tell how Timothy, being instructed by his mother and grandmother, obeyed the teachings of the Bible. Certainly Timothy was happy, as any boy or girl will be, who, having been taught the Scriptures, obeys.

airplane, you would examine the construction sketch very carefully. If we are to pray as Christ wants us to, we must examine the model He gave. The first half of the prayer has to do with God, and the things which concern Him most. The second half deals with our daily bread, forgive ness and guidance. Often we do not pray as God would have us to pray, for we do not follow the model Christ gave. We begin by asking for things which concern us most, instead of for the things which will bring the most glory to God. From now on, let us follow the ex ample of Christ, praying after His
