GLOBAL COMPETENCIES
The desired attributes, skills, and qualities that all students should possess upon graduation from the Branford Public Schools are known as Branford’s Global Learning Competencies. Grounded in The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People , these competencies serve as both the District’s framework for personal leadership and the guiding principles for our curriculum. They reflect the attributes we aspire for every graduate to embody, directly connecting our daily teaching and learning to the habits and mindsets that prepare students to thrive in their personal, academic, and professional lives. Branford’s Global Learning Competencies are more than a set of aspirations, they are a commitment to cultivating well-rounded individuals who are ready to succeed in a rapidly changing world. They mirror the educational values and goals of the District while shaping the path of each student’s educational journey. As the world continues to change at an unprecedented pace, the District’s educators and the Board of Education recognize that sustaining Branford’s reputation for innovation and excellence requires continual reflection on practice and a proactive response to the evolving challenges and opportunities of this new environment. These competencies should be regularly demonstrated by adults across the community as an aspirational model for students.
