U rgent care demands adaptability, and for Dr. Michael Duplechain, that versatility is both the appeal and the purpose. Growing up in the small town of Melville, Louisiana, he saw how a single-family medicine doctor could serve an entire commu- nity. That early experience shaped his belief that healthcare should be accessible, practical and rooted in trust, and those principles are what continue to guide his work today. For Dr. Duplechain, the variety inherent in urgent care is what makes his work so reward- ing. Each day brings a different mix of patients, from children with common illnesses to adults with more complex concerns, along with a wide range of procedures and treatments. This constant diversity keeps him engaged, sharpens his clinical skills, and allows him to apply his broad medical training in meaningful ways. He values the ability to handle many types of cases, to make real-time decisions, and to help patients quickly and effectively all while keeping the care provided patient-centered and evidence-based. Dr. Duplechain’s influence reaches beyond the exam room. A key focus of his role as med- ical director is training and mentoring new physicians and advanced practice providers. He views urgent care as one of the most valuable learning environments in medicine, offering constant variety and real-time decision-mak- ing that prepares clinicians to manage uncer- tainty with confidence. His emphasis is on evidence-based care, appropriate testing and treatment, and responsible prescribing, all essential to improving outcomes and maintaining quality. Even as technology continues to shape health- care, Dr. Duplechain stresses strong physical exams, clear communication, and thoughtful patient interactions. He believes these fun- damentals are what builds trust and ensures patients feel seen and supported. Looking ahead, Dr. Duplechain remains focused on developing capable, compassionate provid- ers who will care for the community for years to come, continuing the legacy of service that first inspired him.
