APPENDIX E: GLOSSARY OF TERMS Ethnicity Pay Gap – The difference in average pay between ethnic minority and White employees. Equal Pay – The legal requirement to pay people equally for the same or equivalent work. Intersectionality – A framework that examines how various aspects of identity (e.g. race, gender, class) intersect to create overlapping experiences of discrimination or privilege. Proximity Bias – A form of bias where individuals who are physically or socially closer to decision-makers receive more favourable outcomes.
