Blue Gold Student Guide

BLUE GOLD GUIDE

LIVING AT UNK Living in a residence hall community is a great way to build connections and become a campus leader. Here are some suggestions to try in the first couple weeks: 1. Go to Tuesday Night Events in the halls known as Community Councils. We come together every Tuesday at 8:00 pm in the residence halls to engage in activities within the first year buildings. 2. Join the Community Council Exec Board to plan activities for your community and make new friends. 3. Run for Floor President: Each floor elects a president in the first few weeks of classes. Floor president helps build community in the hall, and they are invited to the Residence Hall Association meeting every Monday at 5:30 pm in the Mantor Hall Conference Room to give feedback to Residence Life leadership.

RESIDENCE LIFE ENCOURAGES STUDENT GROWTH THROUGH:

PERSONAL GROWTH ■ Describe how to integrate strategies for well-being into their regular routines. ■ Discuss strategies for overcoming adversity. ■ Describe the impact of their choices on others.

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH ■ Describe strategies for effective communication. ■ Discuss how to engage in conflict in a healthy manner.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

■ Discuss strategies to develop healthy relationships. ■ Communicate effectively across differences. ■ Contribute toward more inclusive communities. ■ Provide leadership to better their communities.
