11 Dr. Williams presented the consent agenda, comprised of five items: minutes of the December 11, 2019 12 Board of Governors meeting; minutes of the January 24, 2020 Board of Governors meeting; December 13 31, 2019 financials; March 2020 membership report; and Physicians Foundation report. Draft LSMS Diversity Policy
25 Mr. Williams presented the board with a draft diversity policy that was born from the many comments 26 made during the January 2020 House of Delegates. Several medical students when testifying before the 27 house on resolutions important to them pointed out that the LSMS was silent on diversity. Mr. Williams 28 stated that while we didn’t have a diversity policy that we definitely had diversity within the Society 29 across the membership, leadership and staff. After some questions and discussion, the following motion 30 was made:

THE LOUISIANA STATE MEDICAL SOCIETY IS COMMITTED TO DIVERSITY IN ITS MEMBERSHIP, HOUSE OF DELEGATES, BOARD OF GOVERNORS, COUNCILS, COMMITTEES, STAFF AND ALL LEADERSHIP DIVERSITY IS AN INCLUSIVE CONCEPT THAT ENCOMPASSES RACE, ETHNICITY, NATIONAL ORIGIN, RELIGION, GENDER, AGE, SEXUAL ORIENTATION AND DISABILITY. POSITIONS.
2020 Resolutions Requiring Board Action
42 During the 2020 House of Delegates, 4 resolutions were referred to the Board of Governors for action, 43 they included: R109-20 LSMS sharing of member contact information; R305-20 Transparency at crisis 44 pregnancy centers; R307-20 Firearm safety for children and suicide prevention and R309-20 Addressing 45 the care needs of LGBT populations.
