2020 Active Directives
12 Mr. Williams reviewed the current/open directives from the LSMS House of Delegates, which included: 13 14 R107-20: Changes to the LSMS House of Delegates Annual Meeting - Directs the LSMS President to 15 appoint an ad-hoc committee to study the feasibility of scheduling the Annual Meeting of the House of 16 Delegates at a different time of the year. The committee shall be comprised of ten LSMS members 17 including one representative from the Board of Governors, one representative from the Past Presidents 18 Advisory Council, two representatives from the Young Physician Section, two representatives from the 19 Resident and Fellow Section, one representative from the medical student section, the Chairman of the 20 Council on Legislation, and the Speaker and Vice Speaker of the House of Delegates. The committee 21 shall provide a report to the Board of Governors at each of its scheduled meetings in 2020, and provide a 22 report, with recommendations, to the full House of Delegates during its 2021 Meeting in Baton Rouge. 23 No changes should be made that impact existing contracts for future meetings of the House of 24 Delegates. Sunsets 2021. 25 26 27 R110-20: Proper reporting of suicide on Certificates of Death - Directs the LSMS express by letter to 28 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to the National Center for Health Statistics, to the 29 Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services, to the United States Department of Justice, to the 30 Louisiana Congressional Delegation, and to the American Medical Association concerns that 31 Certificates of Death in jurisdictions allowing Physician-Assisted Suicide may be falsely listing 32 immediate Causes of Death and falsely omitting Suicide as a Manner of Death in certain cases of death 33 caused by self-directed injurious behavior and that certain deaths caused by Suicide may have been 34 intentionally misclassified in State law and may not be properly reported to the medical examiner or 35 coroner. Sunsets 2021. 36 37 R201-20: Supporting improvements to patient data privacy - Directs the LSMS’ AMA delegation to 38 seek and or support the extension of existing health care privacy protections to personal health data 39 collected by apps and wearables, preventing this data from being sold or used commercially without the 40 consumers consent. Sunsets 2021. 41 42 R202-20: Uniformity of medication placement on Medicaid formulary tiers - Directs the LSMS to urge 43 the Louisiana Department of Health to require that all companies administering Louisiana Medicaid 44 plans be required to uniformly place drugs in the Medicaid formulary on a specific Tier when requiring 45 a prior authorization. For example, drug XYZ would be on Tier 1 for all companies’ Prior 46 Authorizations, while drug ABC might be on Tier 2 for all companies. Sunsets 2021. 47 48 R304-20: Tuberculosis testing among health care workers - Directs the LSMS urge the Louisiana 49 Department of Health to require: (1) Screen health care personnel and volunteers in hospitals, nursing 50 homes and other medical/health care facilities, which are considered high risk for exposure to 51
