Dr. Williams then answered any questions related to the update and moved forward with district/local 1 updates. 4 Dr. Williams asked each district councilor and/or officer present to provide a brief COVID-19 update for 5 their local area and communities. 2 3 District Updates 6 7 District 1: George Ellis, MD – most everyone in Jefferson and Orleans parish would agree and feels that 8 things are under better control versus just a couple of weeks ago. However, there is some contention 9 surrounding the New Orleans Mayor's recent actions and the business community. Hospital bed usage in 10 the area has been steadily trending downward. 11 12 District 2: Robert McCord, MD – echoed the prior comments for the area and added that both the Jefferson 13 Parish Medical Society and Orleans Parish Medical Society made monetary donations to the Jefferson 14 Physician Foundation, which is using the funding to provide meals to local healthcare providers on the 15 front lines of the pandemic. 16 17 District 3: unfortunately, there was not anyone from district three who was able to participate on the call. 18 19 District 4: Dr. Steen Trawick, MD – the Shreveport/Bossier area continues to lag New Orleans, but we 20 are also seeing a decrease and are now gearing up for office visits and surgeries to open back up next 21 week. We are advising physicians to document as much as possible moving forward. 22 23 District 5: Adrienne Williams, MD – without being duplicative, the Monroe area is not experiencing any 24 issues related to the supply of PPE; we’ve had one severe case of COVID-19 with a local OB/GYN and 25 within my practice as it relates to pregnancy and COVID-19, currently we are only testing mother's with 26 respiratory symptoms. 27 28 District 6: Will Freeman, MD – our total numbers are starting to come down but as a region we have not 29 begun to close any of the additional COVID wards recently setup. Additionally, the state has brought in 30 Army physicians to staff the mid-city campus of Baton Rouge General Hospital as relief for other 31 hospitals. I have seen a lot of participation from critical care specialists. 32 33 District 7: Brian Gamborg, MD – our office labs are running, hot rooms and other rooms are up and 34 running; only 19 COVID patients at my facility with 5 on vents. The community has been great managing 35 their day-to-day activities. 36 37 District 8: Lance Templeton, MD - echoed the sentiments shared from district seven as they were reflective 38 of the Alexandria and Cenla region as well. COVID activity in local hospitals remains relatively low. 39 Additionally, Greg Lord, MD provided an update on Vernon Parish and the surrounding area, which were 40 doing fine and had done an excellent job of managing patients during the pandemic, specifically within 41 local nursing homes who had not lost any residents to COVID-19. 42 43 District 9: Andy Blalock, MD – Lafayette put together a physician workgroup with local CMO's and other 44 physician leaders. Things are slowly returning to normal; emergency room volumes are down 25% to 50% 45 across the region. Questions remain as to whether we will experience a second wave of COVID and acute 46 /semi-acute conditions moving forward? 47 48 District 10: Katherine Williams, MD – I will echo what everyone else said and things seem to be cooling 49 down in St. Tammany Parish and North Shore area. 50
