As winter settles in, Residential Care Facilities can face unique challenges that require careful planning and proactive management. Behind the scenes, the clinical team play a critical role in ensuring that residents remain safe, warm, and comfortable throughout the colder months. These efforts help protect both residents and staff during a time when vulnerability can be higher. Winter provides an excellent opportunity to assess facility performance and identify areas for improvement. By focusing on preventative maintenance, safety, energy management, and preparedness, we can continue to provide a safe and reliable environment for everyone who uses our facility. Thank you to all staff, contractors, visitors, and residents for your ongoing support and cooperation. Together, we can ensure a safe, comfortable, and successful winter season. We continue to ask visitors to avoid visiting facility if you are unwell. We have placed hand sanitiser at front door to remind visitors of its importance. The clinical team will request consent for all vaccinations to keep our resident safe, We respectfully ask that you return these consents as a matter of urgency. We would also take this opportunity to ask residents to maintain your fluid intake during the colder months. A good fluid intake is as important during the cooler months as during the warmer months. We have also placed the visitor code of conduct at reception. We ask visitors to familiarise yourselves with this to keep our staff safe thus ensuring mutual respect from all parties towards the very people who care for our vulnerable residents. Without these caring individuals, I am sure you all agree, Aged Care would look very different. We appreciate your ongoing support. Warmest winter regards, Brenda Facility Manager
