For the many communities surrounding our roads, we are committed to being a responsible and responsive neighbour who contributes in a meaningful way. In FY26, we invested more than $4.66 million 1 in partnerships ranging from road safety research to driver training programs.
We support and invest in community organisations and initiatives that help us advance three focus areas: empowering customers, championing road safety and strengthening communities. Lacing up for a good cause Swapping cars for people, we opened our roads to runners and cyclists, helping raise millions for local charities. In Melbourne, we celebrated the 20th anniversary of Run for the Kids. Almost 30,000 people crossed the Bolte Bridge to raise $1.32 million for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. Over the past two decades the event has raised more than $24 million to fund hospital research and equipment. In Brisbane, 37,000 people took part in Bridge to Brisbane across the Gateway Bridge, with our team and business partners raising more than $60,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities. We also sponsored the Tour de Brisbane bike ride through the Legacy Way Tunnel, which raised $30,000 for medical research. In Sydney, we are the official roads partner for the Sydney Marathon – Australia’s only Abbott World Marathon Major. The event, held in August 2025, raised $8 million for charity. In the US, we sponsored the DC Bike Ride, a community event that drew close to 10,000 cyclists along our 395 Express Lanes. Across all these events, our in-kind support, provided through road closures and forgone revenue, was valued at more than $661,600. Staying safe on the road To recognise National Road Safety Week, 3,086 child car seats were checked by Kidsafe experts at events in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in May 2026. The checks found more than 88% of car seats required adjustment, reinforcing the need for ongoing education and public awareness campaigns. This year we announced a new charity partner in Queensland, leading road safety educator BRAKE. Our partnership, facilitated through Bridge to Brisbane, will support BRAKE’s work in delivering road safety education to South East Queensland high schools,
helping young people build safer thinking, habits, and decision-making skills before they get behind the wheel. We also continued our support of driver training programs this year, including the KARI Transurban Aboriginal Driving School in Sydney, the Transurban ARTIE #1 Driving School in Brisbane and six Transport Accident Commission L2P driver programs in Melbourne. Collectively, we spent $275,000 supporting learner driver programs FY26. Our Toll Road Ready program continued this year with 122 learner drivers completing the online course we developed to teach participants how to use our roads safely and effectively. Community grants In FY26, we provided grants of up to $10,000 each to community groups across each of our Australian markets. These grants support their vital work in road safety, local environment, and financial and social inclusion. This year, our Australian grants funded a a total of $649,567 to 77 groups. This included a special round of relief grants totalling $225,000 to support organisations providing on-the-ground access to food, housing and transport to those impacted by rising cost-of-living pressures. Organisations supported included ICAN Learn who empower Indigenous clients via financial counselling in Sydney; Koala Rescue Brisbane who rescue and rehabilitate koalas and raise road safety awareness; and Our Village’s Safe Travel for Families programs who provide safety-checked car restraints and prams across Melbourne. We also continued our People’s Choice Award, where our communities voted to award a further $10,000 and $5,000 to the successful projects in each state. In the US, we continue to support communities in Northern Virginia, with USD109,250 worth of grants and community sponsorships awarded in FY26. These grants assist communities across the region, including those providing educational programming, support to those experiencing vulnerability, environmental sustainability, and other critical services.
