Guided by our purpose – be the link between people, places and progress – we continue to foster an environment where our people thrive and innovation flourishes.

Our ongoing commitment is to build an agile, resilient, and highly engaged workforce that drives exceptional performance and sustainable growth. Our culture is built on four core values: start with our customer, show up with an open mind, solve it together, and set the standard , which guide our day-to-day decisions, and keep us focused on delivering practical benefits for our customers and communities. Each year we ask our people about their experience at work through the ‘Our Voice’ survey. Our March 2026 survey showed that our values are embedded in how we work and show up every day. Our people reported a strong commitment to and experience of behaviours that underpin a healthy risk culture, safe and inclusive workplace. Acting on insights from Our Voice, we are working to improve how we communicate and connect our people to our strategy. To support this, we have introduced regular executive Q&A events and targeted people leader sessions. These initiatives are designed to help our leaders clearly explain business decisions and show how every role connects to our broader strategic direction. Future-ready skills We're helping our people grow and work in new ways, and to develop skills they need to keep up with digital transformation.

In FY26, we’ve focused on equipping our workforce with practical AI tools and creating space for AI learning. A series of live sessions, covering topics such as prompting, data preparedness, and an introduction to Gemini Enterprise, has been delivered alongside drop-in sessions with Google experts. Our people are also encouraged to access learning paths on Google Skills and LinkedIn Learning to strengthen their skills. In our customer team, we expanded our use of AI chatbots. By handling routine inquiries automatically, this technology frees up our teams to address more complex customer challenges. See page 24. Emerging talent Investing in emerging talent is crucial to the growth of our business and industry. In FY26, we continued to deliver and expand on a range of initiatives to support, guide, and accelerate the careers of our emerging talent including industry-based learning for technology undergraduates through a partnership with Monash University in Melbourne, with 20 high performing students building their skills during a six-month placement at Transurban. Our latest graduate cohort across engineering, technology, and finance helped accelerate our AI adoption through an eight-week business challenge. Partnering with business units, the graduates designed and built custom AI agents to automate repetitive tasks. This initiative showed how teams build AI fluency through safe, hands-on experimentation focused on solving real problems.
