A letter from Chairman Darren Harris, Spring is in full bloom at Meridian Valley and the beauty of the golf course, and our great facility is on full display. Spring is that time of year where our calendar of events fills up and the golf season transitions into full swing. It has been an exceptionally busy start to the year, and I wanted to provide a quick update on our progress with our new and improved amenities and share with you some important dates on the upcoming calendar. I hope you’ve had an opportunity to enjoy some of the many events over the past few weeks. Men’s Guest Day, the Almost Master’s golf tournament and Easter weekend saw huge turnouts and were a big success. Easter weekend was one of the biggest ever with over 130 children participating in the popular Easter egg hunt and we hosted over 200 members and guests for the Easter Brunch on Sunday. There are many more fun events planned in the coming weeks including the annual Cinco de Mayo celebration, the Saturday Market and concert on the patio, Mother’s Day Brunch and Dinner and a Couple’s Guest Day. I hope you can participate in these fun events. As you may have seen, the upper parking lot and tennis court renovation project is taking shape. The new MVCC sport court complex and children’s playground are expected to open in late May. More details will be coming soon regarding our Sport court programming including information on hours of use, reserving the courts and additional material on league play and other opportunities to learn the game. The golf industry has seen unprecedented growth since the first days of the pandemic and Meridian Valley is no exception. A huge thanks goes to Craig Benson and our superb grounds crew for keeping the course in great shape given this tremendous growth in play. The new amenities and expanded programming – including the pickleball courts, playground, family-friendly activities, and enhanced dining options -- are designed to reduce pressure on the course and are part of a long-range strategic plan that will provide the foundation for a full- service country club experience for our current and future members. It has been far too long since we’ve had a chance to get together in person and discuss club business, so we are planning a fireside chat to meet with members, answer your questions, and discuss our operating plans for the year. The fireside chat is scheduled for May 12 from 6-7pm in the upper clubhouse lounge. We will be sending out a communication to ask for your questions in advance of the event-please look for that communication the 1st week of May. Our current Vice Chairperson Mary Miller, GM Gordy Walker and I will be available to hear your thoughts and ideas and answer your questions. I hope you can join us. Finally, I want to personally thank our incredible staff, the many volunteers who serve on our committees, the Women’s Division officers and members and the MVCC board who I have the privilege of serving with for their countless hours of work, commitment, and support to better the club. See you on the course! Darren Harris
